You can’t really go wrong with egg carton crafts. They are super simple to put together and are so much fun for kids and adults alike. Kids in preschool and kindergarten can easily make these with adult supervision.
I made these recycled egg carton turtles with my 6 year old and it’s hard to say who had more fun – her or me.
We’ve been making egg carton crafts all week long and have so far made egg carton caterpillars, lady bugs, crabs and penguins.
What you need to make 1 recycled egg carton turtle:
1. 1 egg carton piece
2. Scissors
3. Craft glue
4. Light and dark green paint (I love these washable Crayola paints, perfect for doing crafts with kids who will inevitably get the paint everywhere!)
5. 2 googly eyes
7. 1 green pom pom
8. Green construction paper
How to make a recycled egg carton turtle:
1. Cut an empty egg carton piece. You’ll need one piece for each turtle. Egg cartons are a bit tough to cut so its best to do this yourself and let your kids do the rest. This one’s a great craft scissor for adult.
2. Paint the egg carton piece green. Wait until it’s totally dry.
3. While your egg carton dries up, take the green pom pom and stick the googly eyes on it.
4. Next, cut out 4 pieces for the turtle’s legs using green craft paper like so:
5. Use glue to stick the pom pom and the turtles legs to the egg carton like this:
6. Use dark green paint to make spots on the turtle’s body to make it look more real
Tadaa… in 6 easy steps your egg carton turtle is ready. I hope you and your kids have as much fun as we did in making these.
