Best bath toys for toddlers to help make bath time fun.
I’ve written previously about how you can help your toddler not hate bath time. It starts off with understanding what’s making them so cranky in the first place and how you can help.
Then comes the enjoyable part: making bath time fun! I’ve found that the more fun I can make bath time, the longer my kids want to stay in the tub and I can get some extra minutes of peace before bedtime.
The key to long, peaceful and fun bath times in our house have been bath toys. So I’ve collected some of our favorites (and researched which bath toys other parents swear by!) and complied them all together in this post.
These are a collection of the best bath toys for toddlers that are easy to clean, keep kids engaged for long, are educational and promote learning and help make bath time fun.
Tip: while it’s good to have different bath toys in the tub each week, it’s best to only have 1-2 of them at a time. Too many in the tub will make kids feel overwhelmed and cranky (speaking from personal experience, don’t say I didn’t warn you!)

Bath crayons
Bath crayons can keep a child occupied for AGES! Your child can color the side of the tub, the tiles or other bath toys and let out his creative genius. Once done, all the color washes away with one swipe without leaving any marks. If I had to pick just 1 thing my kids could play with in the bath tub, it would be bath crayons. These Crayola Bath Crayons are non-toxic, easy to draw with, comes in a pack of 10 and is easy to grip with wet hands.
Bath books
My girls love story books. But when you have story books IN the bath tub the fun is doubled! It can keep kids entertained for ages and can be used even when bath time is over.
These non toxic, fabric soft bath books feature many themes such as fruits, animals and the ocean and come in a pack of 8. Parents love the brilliantly colored pages, crinkly fabric pages, fun images, durably stitched construction and grabbable size that toddlers love.
Stack and pour buckets
Looking for bath toys that offer open ended play and help build motor skills? These stackable cups are the most used bath toys in our household and I HAD to include them in this list of best bath toys for toddlers!
Your little ones can scoop water, pour and drain. They can be used for washing your child’s head, help move bubbles from one corner of the tub to the other or make for a pot of pretend soup.
These colorful bath buckets feature signature skip hop zoo characters and kids can drain water from them in a variety of ways using the 3 Sprinkle Effects.
Easy for little hands to grab and stackable for easy storage. I love how versatile these cups are and can be used out of the bath tub as well for open ended play.
Boon pipes building
Who would’ve thought leaky pipes could be so much fun? This is a bath toy that’ll teach your little one about scooping, pouring and cause and effect.
The pipes come in different shapes and can be played with individually or linked together. These building boon pipes can be stuck to the wall and provide hours of fun for your little one.
Arctic polar bear
This one is totally on my list to get. It’s a 2-1 bath toy: a ring toss and a stacking game!
The polar bear floats about while kids try to toss the fish rings on the bears matching feet. Or stack the rings on the polar bear’s tummy. Not only will it keep your kids busy for a good 15-20 minutes but it’ll also develop their motor skills and build hand eye coordination.
Basketball Hoop & Balls Set for Boys and Girls (3 Bees and me)
What could be more fun than playing basketball in the bath tub? Ideal for developing hand eye coordination and gross motor skills, this is a bath toy your child will absolutely love.
The hoop fastens securely to the bath faucet. So no matter how hard your little one dunks, it wont be falling off unlike the suction cup basketball hoops. The balls are BPA free, with no holes (and hence mold free!)
Fishin’ Rod by Munchkin
This bath time toy set has little sea creatures that act like bobbing toys in the bath while the magnetic fishing rod is used to catch the fish.
The rod is specially designed for little toddler hands to easily grip. This is a wonderful toy for developing childrenās fine and gross motor skills and will keep them entertained for ages.
Lego or Duplo Blocks
Have you tried duplo or lego in the bath yet? Itās totally time you should! This is a true gamechanger. My kids absolutely love it.
Lego and Duplo involve a lot of problem-solving and can hold childrenās concentration for long periods of time. It also provides kids with multiple opportunities to build and create as there is no one way of building. All kids no matter what their age would love a bath tub filled with lego.
36 Piece Bath Tub Alphabet Set (Nuby)
This is such a fun way to introduce your little one to alphabets and numbers and a great way to make bath time into a learning experience.
t’s targeted for toddlers but can also be used for preschoolers and kindergarteners too. The pack contains A-Z in capitals and 0-9 in numbers.
Dunk them in the bath and let your kids fish them out as you teach them the alphabet/number name. The best part? They stick to the side of the bath when wet so that’ll keep your little one entertained for a good amount of time.
Skip Hop Zoo Bath Pull and Go Submarine
This is a great bath toy to teach your little one about floating and sinking. Your toddler can pull at the string to activate the propeller and watch as the sub wizzes by.
Rub a Dub Tub Soup (Alex Toys)
This 12-piece set includes 9 vegetables, a ladle, colander and a salt shaker. This activity is perfect for toddlers to engage in imaginative and pretend play.
Kids love pretending to cook meals so why not do it in the bath? By mixing around the vegetables to make a soup kids will learn the names of different vegetables in a fun and creative way.
Big bonus: it helps to encourage healthy eating. They *might* be less likely to turn their noses up next time you give them broccoli for dinner.
Little boat train
This comes in a set of six boats that can be played with individually or linked together. Whether your toddler loves to play with boats, loves to build or link, or just loves to whizz things through water, these cute boats definitely make it on the list of the best bath toys for toddlers.
These bath train boats float, scoop out water and strain it too. They have silly faces that are sure to make your little one smile.
Each pack contains six colorful boats numbered 1-2-3, ideal for teaching toddlers about colors, order, number recognition and counting. Also, pouring, scooping and linking help develop fine motor skills too.
Spray bottles
Filling up and squirting spray bottles will keep your little ones occupied for AGES – trust me! Empty spray bottles can make for an awesome activity in the tub.
Spray bottles require a great amount of fine motor skills to trigger and also help strengthen the muscles in childrenās hands. Toddlers enjoy the simplest of things so this can certainly be a creative (and cheap) way to keep your little one busy in the bath tub.
Fun Foam Animals (3 bees & me)
This is a vibrant colorful bath time toy set that comes in a cute box and would make for a nice gift for little ones.
These foam animals are a perfect bath toy to encourage imaginative play with animals and can help encourage vocabulary development with toddlers. A fun game to play is asking kids āwhat sound does this animal makeā.
Parents love that the animals stick to the tiles when wet. Added bonus: comes with a handy storage bag.
Float & Play Bubbles Bath Toy (Munchkin)
An Amazon Bestseller, these are targeted for babies and younger toddlers to stimulate their sensory awareness. These floating bath bubbles shine, spin and rattle. Theyre easy to grasp, easy to dry and teach kids about hand eye coordination.
This list proves that bath time can turn into a learning opportunity without kids even knowing it.
